Helping students develop healthy coping and problem-solving strategies to support healthy decision making.
The Fairfax County Youth Survey is given to all students in grades 6, 8, 10, and 12 each fall. It provides a wealth of information about a variety of topics related to our youth that influence their physical and mental well being, from sleep and nutritional habits to substance abuse behaviors to symptoms of depression and suicidal thoughts.
The Virginia Department of Health (VDOH) Youth Survey monitors priority health risk behaviors established during youth that result in the most significant mortality and morbidity during both youth and adulthood.
The Virginia School Survey of Climate and Working Conditions (Student Survey) provides schools with information on school climate, safety, and working conditions.

Substance Abuse Prevention Program
FCPS offers activities and learning experiences which focus on the many ways cannabis, alcohol, nicotine/vaping, and other drug use can impact student lives.
Bullying Prevention and Intervention
Through school-wide positive behavior approaches and participation in K-12 health and guidance lessons students are taught to behave respectfully and to resolve conflicts in positive ways.
Crisis Intervention Services
Support, services, and consultation is available to any FCPS school community affected by loss caused by humans or natural disasters; deaths; suicides; and other tragedies.
Gang Prevention and Education
Learn what you can do to support good student decision-making and prevent gang involvement. Learn how to report suspected gang activity, to recognize risk factors for getting involved with gangs, and to identify the warning signs often associated with gang involvement.
Gun Violence Prevention Resources
Read about secure firearm storage, modeling responsible behavior around firearms, asking about secure storage practices in other homes, recognizing the role of firearms in suicide, seeking help for a child who could be a threat to themselves or others, and an important Virginia firearm law.
Restorative Justice
A formal process facilitated by trained, skilled facilitators that brings together those impacted by wrongdoing while focusing on accountability, character development, and school and community safety.
